Bangladesh’s GDP has Risen by 313% Since 1996, Well Above Asia

Real GDP in Bangladesh has risen by 313% since 1996 way outperforming the 260% rise in the Asia-Pacific region and the 193% rise in Frontier Markets. GDP growth in Bangladesh kept pace with these benchmarks until 2006 when the country’s growth rate accelerated. The country’s ten-year cumulative annual average growth rate has been 6.4% and over the last 5 years, it was only a little lower at 6.3%.

Growth could be maintained since Bangladesh has a demographic dividend. Almost 40% of the population of 166 million are under the age of 15. Furthermore, the median age of the population is low at 27.6 years, and if the employment to population ratio standing at 56.5%, rises this would increase GDP further.  See more data...
