The World Bank Ease of Doing Business Index collects together information on 10 factors believed to impact of the ease of doing business in any particular country. The factors are: starting a business, dealing with construction permits, getting electricity, registering property, getting credit, protecting minority investors, paying taxes, trading across borders, enforcing contracts and resolving insolvency. The Index gives equal weight to all factors.
This Index will be replaced by a new Index shortly, following criticism received by the World Bank. Despite some problems we believe the Index is a valuable addition to our Governance Index.
Ease of Doing Business data has been indexed on a scale of 0-100 to show each countries relative position against others in the database. A value of 100 indicates a very high 'Ease of Doing Business'.
Chile has a Ease of Doing Business Index of 74.2 ranking it 56th of 150 in the global listings.
